Gooey Butter Cake

Yield: Approximately 16 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 box yellow cake mix 
  • 1 stick of butter, melted 
  • 4 eggs, divided 
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract, divided 
  • 1, 8oz package cream cheese 
  • 4 cups powdered sugar 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees 
  2. Whisk butter, eggs, and 1tsp vanilla in a mixing bowl 
  3. Add in the cake mix, it will be very thick. 
  4. Use a rubber spatula to spread the cake mixture onto the bottom of a buttered 9x13 in baker. 
  5. In another bowl using a hand mixer, or a stand mixer, mix the cream cheese, 2 eggs, and 1tsp vanilla. 
  6. Slowly beat in the powdered sugar until nice and smooth. 
  7. Pour over the cake layer 
  8. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. 
  9. Cool before serving.
